Star Sail Tote
A Handmade Designer Tote Bag
Size: 14.5" x 14.5" with a 3" box bottom
Price: Was $75, Now $55
When a sailboat skipper decides it's time to retire a spinnaker or jib, it's not the end of the
sail's useful service. Artist Katherine Rasmussen creates stylish and sturdy handmade designer totes
from the recycled seaworthy material. Handmade in the USA, these woven white dacron totes are lined
with 100% certified organic cotton lining and feature an inside pocket divided into three sections for easy organizing and
to make them easy to use as a travel tote. Many include a diagonal sail seam on the back for added
interest. The 26" nylon webbing strap is long enough to wear as a shoulder tote bag but is also
easily carried over your arm or in your hand.
The Red Star Sail Tote is lined with red cotton canvas, the pocket is trimmed in bright
orange rayon trim, and the strap is also a contrasting orange.
Cleaning instructions: Machine wash these handmade designer totes in cold water and hang dry.
Artist Bio
Katherine Rasmussen creates handmade products that are one-of-a-kind and kind to the environment.
She combined her training in graphic design and tailoring to produce these recycled designer totes
when she recognized the potential of sailboat sails as a material for cloth carryalls after a vacation
in Maine.
"Working with recycled sails is exhilarating," she said. "Each sail has a different 'hand' -
texture, density and crispness - a testament to its history."
